BSD City, 1 September 2022 –The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the property industry in Indonesia, including rental activities. Research from property consultant Colliers found that there was a decline in the occupancy rate of commercial buildings/office buildings in the first quarter of 2022 in Jakarta's CBD which reached 75 percent, the lowest in 10 years. Meanwhile, the apartment rental rate in the first quarter of 2022 stood at 58%. The weakness of this rental activity is undeniably a burden for property owners. As a result, property owners often rent out their assets without a thorough tenant verification process, which ultimately ends up being counterproductive.

 

Living Lab X, the partnership and incubation division of Living Lab Ventures, is taking steps to increase rental activities in collaboration with TwoSpaces and NEC. Through this collaboration, the three companies will present a digital technology platform that can build a rental ecosystem consisting of tenants, landlords, and property agents to interact in a practical and flexible manner. The existence of this technology is expected to assist the verification process of prospective tenants to minimize the risk of unit owners and other residents against unreliable tenants.
